Cuba, Jemez Springs, Jemez Pueblo New Mexico
On Two Edges of La Valles Grande
Sandoval County (N Central) map of counties
About Cuba NM | JemezSprings.org
|
These towns sit on the sides of the largest volcanic crater in the USA, La Valle Grande. Cuba is on the West side and is bordered by the Jicarilla Apache Reservation which is bordered by the Navajo Reservation. Cuba is the last real town for many, many miles before arriving in the Northern NM area towns of Bloomdale and Farmington.
Jemez Springs sits in a Southern rift of the volcano and sports fabulous red cliffs bordering the narrow area just North of the Jemez Pueblo. It is visited often as a paceful getaway and has the well-known village Bath House fed by natural hot springs. A little South of the Jemez Pueblo and back on level ground is a tiny spot in the road called San Ysidro - be sure to obey the speed limit there!
