Centrally located, Albuquerque provides the largest number of options for service providers but all communities have the basic services for living within reach. While there are great distances, sometimes, between communities, each community has its own service providers and stores.

The largest city is Albuquerque but there are also other major cities: Santa Fe (state capitol), Alamogordo (where the Stealth bombers are kept at nearby Holloman AFB), Las Cruces (very near to El Paso, TX), Carslbad (of Caverns fame), Farmington (next to the Navajo Reservation and cliff dwellings), Roswell (of UFO fame), Artesia, Socorro, Silver City, Belen, Deming, Lordsburg, Raton (on the Amtrak Route from Albuquerque), Tucumcari, Gallup, Grants, Las Vegas (older than the one in Nevada), Ruidoso (of quarter horse racing fame and the Mescalero Apache Reservation nearby), Taos and Madrid (of artistic and quaint fame), and many others.

Most smaller communities (Questa, Angel Fire, Tularosa, Bernalillo, and others) are usually within 20 minutes of a larger town. There are some very small, remote towns in New Mexico that require an hour's travel to get to substantial services, like beautiful Jemez Springs.
